additives explained
Colorings and other "additives" are not in the Milk Thistle, they are components in miniscule amounts that make up the gel-cap itself that contains the herbal extract. They add coloring so that if you are taking a lot of pills at once (as I do) you can see if there is already one in your hand by a quick glance.
They try to give every capsule or pill a unique color or design so you don't accidentally take more than you should at one time. I am glad they do because after a while I will just put pills in my hand in the morning without really thinking of which I have and which I have not already put into my hand...... due to the coloring I can very easily distinguish which is there, and quickly see what I am taking.
The amount of coloring is so small it's of no consequence and is totally harmless because it's natural coloring, not chemical.

Why do you add coloring of any kind to your products?
What do you mean by 'vegetable shortening"? What vegetable? Shortening...not oil???
