Lhassi is a popular cold drink in India and East Asia. It is made with yogurt or sour milk, sugar, water (or soda water), and often fresh fruits and spices, blended with ice.
The core ingredients in lhassi—yogurt or milk, sugar and water, and ice—do not vary. However, fruit, honey, and spices are often added.
Not yet widely known, this refreshing drink is served primarily in East Indian restaurants.
Fruit, such as mangoes, may be added to lhassi for variety. The drink may also be seasoned with cardamom, rose water or rose petals, honey, and other condiments. Lhassi goes well with spicy Indian foods.
