Diet powders, or meal-replacement powders, are usually protein-based drink mixes that are combined with water, milk, or juice. They’re intended to be a quick and nutritious alternative when you can’t get a “real” meal. Diet powders have long been a source of nutrition and protein for athletes, weight watchers, and bodybuilders, but are now formulated for everyday use as well.
Diet powders are available in individual packets or larger canisters in a variety of flavors, with chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry being the most common. Natural diet powders with natural sweeteners, colors, and flavors are also available. Many are fortified with vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients.
Blend diet powders with rice milk or soy milk for a quick dairy-free breakfast. Combine them in a blender with bananas, peaches, or berries for added nutrition.
