According to National Geographic, a study found that humans have been using beeswax and honey for at least 9,000 years. The world’s oldest honey sample (which is still edible) is around 3,000 years old, and ancient Egyptian drawings show that people used honey for many purposes. This includes using raw honey for use as an embalming fluid ingredient, sweeteners, fuels, cosmetics, and folk remedies.
It’s easy to see why honey is one of the most important and nutritious substances nature has to offer, and why protecting our honeybees is essential. From baking to cooking to use in beauty products, the popularity of honey is still going strong. Take a look at some of our favorite bee products listed below!
Eat like a queen! Puritan’s Pride Royal Jelly is a nutritious substance secreted from the glands of nursing bees and fed to the larvae destined to be queens. The queen bee thrives by eating royal jelly exclusively during her life, which allows her to live approximately 40 times longer than her worker bees. Our Royal Jelly contains the compound, 10-Hydroxy-2-Decenoic Acid (10-HDA), which is an active component of royal jelly.
Propolis is also known as “bee glue.” This resinous substance is a mix of beeswax and saliva combined with botanical flowers gathered from buds, sap, and other sources. Bees use propolis to seal open spaces in the hive. As a dietary substance, propolis is a natural source of trace nutrients, including amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, proteins and carbohydrates. Puritan’s Pride Bee Propolis has been used by our customers for years!
Our Bee Pollen Complex contains a blend of pollen, royal jelly, and propolis, so you can get all of the honeybee nutrition you need.
Raw, unpasteurized manuka honey is renowned worldwide as being the purest form of honey. Native to New Zealand, manuka honey is sourced from the flowers of the manuka bush, a shrub that is related to tea tree. Wedderspoon Manuka Honey was the first Non-GMO Project-verified manuka honey, and it is verified by a rating system approved by the New Zealand government.
Honeywell Raw Organic Pure Honey is one of our most popular honey products. This raw honey is unfiltered from wildflower blossoms and contains the nutrients that help raw honey crystallize, such as pollen. This is honey in its normal and natural state. If liquid honey is desired, carefully submerge the container in hot (not boiling) water until the honey liquefies. Customer and reviewer Siroos said, “It’s simply the best honey I’ve ever had.” Use it for baking, cooking, skin care, and more!
